Languages at OTR International School
At OTR, French and English are used daily in a balanced bilingual approach that enables students to progressively develop fluency in both languages while strengthening critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and a global perspective. As the only school in Luxembourg offering a complete bilingual pathway through the IB curriculum*, native-speaking teachers work closely together to ensure pedagogical consistency and authentic language immersion across all grade levels.
* Note – The complete bilingual IB pathway is launching over the next couple of years as follows: IB PYP bilingual currently available, IB MYP bilingual available starting in the 2026-2027, IB DP bilingual available starting in the 2027-2028 school year.
- In Preschool, children benefit from daily exposure to both languages through immersive learning experiences and teacher rotation.
- In Primary School, students follow a rigorous bilingual curriculum delivered equally in French and English through a co-teaching and language rotation model within the IB PYP curriculum, certified as an IB bilingual program.
- In the MYP curriculum, bilingualism is reinforced through structured French instruction and the study of additional languages such as Spanish, German, Mandarin, or Japanese. Starting in the 2026-2027 school year, MYP will have a complete IB bilingual option which will include Language & Literature in both English and French.
- In the DP and Cambridge A Levels pathways, students continue to develop advanced language proficiency through academically rigorous courses adapted to their level, preparing them for higher education and international opportunities.
