Our mission, as OTR International School, is to allow students of Grades 11 and 12 to complete the IB Diploma Programme with us.

OTR International School is an accreditate school for the Diploma Programme (Grades 11-12), the IB World School programme. IB World Schools share a common philosophy – a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students.

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum is made up of six subject groups and the DP core, comprising theory of knowledge (TOK), creativity, activity, service (CAS) and the extended essay.

The six subject groups of the IB Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum:

  1. studies in language and literature;
  2. language acquisition;
  3. individuals and societies;
  4. sciences;
  5. mathematics;
  6. arts.

Students may opt to study an additional sciences, individuals and societies, or language course, instead of a course in the arts.

Students will take some subjects at higher level (HL) and some at standard level (SL). HL and SL subjects differ in scope but are measured according to the same grade descriptors, with students expected to demonstrate a greater body of knowledge, understanding and skills at higher level.

Each student takes a minimum of three or a maximum of four subjects at higher level, and the remaining at standard level.

We offer an education marked by individual attention, small class sizes and a climate of collaboration and excellence.

The DP core comprising Theory of knowledge (TOK), Creativity, activity, service (CAS) and the Extended essay:

  1. Theory of Knowledge (TOK) – is an interdisciplinary requirement intended to stimulate critical reflection on the knowledge and experience gained inside and outside the classroom. The course challenges students to question the bases of knowledge, to be aware of subjective and ideological biases, to develop the ability to analyze evidence that is expressed in rational argument. It is a key element in encouraging them to appreciate other cultural perspectives. The course is unique to the IB, which recommends at least 100 hours of teaching time spanning the programme’s two years.
  2. Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) – The IB’s goal is to educate the whole person and foster responsible, compassionate citizens. The CAS programme encourages students to share their energy and special talents with others: students may, for example, participate in theatre or musical productions, sports and community service activities. Students should, through these activities, develop greater awareness of themselves, concern for others, and the ability to work cooperatively with other people.
  3. An Extended Essay – Each student has the opportunity to investigate a topic of special interest. The essay requirement acquaints Diploma candidates with the kind of independent research and writing skills expected by universities. The IB recommends that a student devote a total of about 40 hours of private study and writing time to the essay, which may be written in one of 60 subjects, including many languages.
